I have been diagnosed with type one diabetes. Next month I should receive free blood glucose meter test strips for a year - 450. Please explain under what conditions additional payments are made, since the pharmacy told me in a preliminary conversation that I have to pay BGN 80 for 9 boxes?

Specifically, my question is about Optium freestyle tapes. Since they are free, why is it necessary for patients to pay extra? And are these strips actually tied to a particular brand where the patient does not owe any co-pays? If so, please indicate which brands of test strips it applies to?
