Due to the pandemic, people have started to pay much more attention to basic hygiene rules. So we learned that there are as many as 9 stages of proper hand washing with soap, and the procedure itself should take about a minute. At least that's the WHO advice

Amid increased attention to possible sources of danger, the eyes of many are on the technology we use every day. Today, we can hardly imagine our life without smartphones, and the surface of these devices, as they say, is even dirtier than a toilet bowl.

But do we urgently need to disinfect this indispensable helper?

Clean Smartphone

“Theoretically, it is possible for the virus to appear first on the surface of a smartphone, and then in the human body. To do this, someone who is already infected must sneeze or cough into the phone.

In this case, the owner of the device may become infected. If you keep the phone with you, then the risks are minimal, says American microbiologist Daniel Kuritzkes.

“Of course, if you are constantly in contact with a sick person, then your smartphone should be constantly disinfected. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problems, says Welsh microbiologist Emma Hayhurst.

Experts advise washing your hands with soap more often and not touching your face and worry less about the dangers of smartphones. A much greater source of danger is, for example, elevator buttons or door handles, which are touched by hundreds and thousands of people.

At the same time, no one denies that many germs accumulate on the surface of phones, which can be a he alth hazard. That's why you still need to disinfect your smartphone periodically.

Before it was recommended to use a microfiber cloth and 55% alcohol solution to clean the surface of the gadgets, today it is good to use wipes with 70% alcohol solution. At least that's the official recommendation from Apple.

Other manufacturers have not commented on this yet. This is understandable, as alcohol can damage the phone's oleophobic coating, which repels grease and grime from the touchscreen.

But, firstly, this coating is damaged over time, and secondly, he alth is much more important than the appearance of even the most expensive smartphone.

How to properly clean your phone? First of all, wipe the smartphone screen with a tissue. Then fold it so that the dirty side is inside and wipe the corners first and then the back of the device.

Repeat this simple procedure two more times, using a clean towel each time. Now your smartphone is much cleaner and you can use it without much fear.

It is recommended that this cleaning be done after every use of the phone in public places. You should also not give your phone to people whose hands you doubt are clean.
