Nuts are among the he althiest foods in the world. However, you can replenish your body's stores of important nutrients if you "activate" them first.

Why should you do it?

Nuts are grains that are used to propagate plants. Nutrients are preserved in a preserved form to facilitate germination at the optimum time. Storage of important compounds is ensured by phytase.

Nuts contain a lot of folic acid, which is not absorbed by our body. It is excreted by removing important macro- and microelements. As a result, there is not much benefit from eating nuts.

After activation, however, everything changes. Nuts are ready to enrich the human body by giving it all the nutrients.

Activation benefits:

• the nuts become clean – the substances used for their processing are removed (most often this is sulfur dioxide);

• vitamins "wake up";

• folic acid is not excreted;

• taste improves, bitterness disappears;

• you can see which nuts are spoiled - they don't absorb water.

The only inconvenience associated with activation is the need to use the product quickly. You will have to eat it in a maximum of three days.

How to activate?

Activation is called soaking the nuts in water. For this purpose, take a glass container with a suitable volume. You need to put as many nuts as you can eat in 2-3 days and cover them with clean water. During activation, you need to change the water several times. Note that only raw nuts that have not undergone heat treatment are suitable for "awakening".

The process takes an average of 8-12 hours, depending on the type of nuts:

• cedar – from 6 to 8 hours;

• cashew – from 3 to 10 hours;

• peanuts - from 7 to 10 o'clock;

• Pistachio – from 7 to 10 o'clock;

• macadamia - from 7 to 12 hours;

• hazelnuts – from 8 to 12 hours;

• walnut – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;

• Brazil nut – from 10 to 24 hours;

• almonds – from 12 to 2 p.m.;

This time is enough to awaken the vitamins in the nuts, but you should not exceed the indicated values - they will start to germinate after being in the water too long. Each type must be activated in a separate container.

At the end of the process, do not forget to rinse the nuts under running water. Then dry them on suitable paper, and put the dry ones in a glass container, tightly closed with a lid and store in the refrigerator.
