Those who want to lose weight often exclude "bad" carbohydrates from their diet. However, nutrition expert Daniela Krell knows that they are very important for he alth and well-being
The nutrition expert at the Bavarian Consumer Center warns:
“This does not mean that we should eliminate carbohydrate-rich foods from our diet. Because they contain important fiber and vitamins, the glucose they contain also supports blood sugar levels."
The German Nutrition Society recommends getting at least 50 percent of your energy intake from carbohydrates. Scarcity affects our well-being.
5 Signs of Carb Deficiency
Fatigue and weakness
If the body lacks glucose, then there is no most important source of energy. Blood sugar drops, we feel tired and weak.
Sugar Craving
Unstable blood sugar makes us crave food. Then the body quickly needs a lot of carbohydrates, we crave sweets.
Bad breath
If the body lacks carbohydrates, it starts converting fat stores into carbohydrates. It is then in a state of ketosis and releases ketones, which are chemical compounds, through the mouth. Bad breath appears.
Constipation
Unlike foods high in fat and protein, foods high in carbohydrates are usually high in fiber. This is necessary for normal digestion. If the body lacks fiber, constipation occurs.
Headache and lack of concentration
To supply the brain with energy, we need glucose. If this is not the case, we often cannot concentrate. Also, falling blood sugar levels often lead to headaches.
