We ignore brown lentils for a bunch of obscure reasons - not particularly appealing appearance, limited recipes with it. But lentils are one of the most useful, nutritious and, at the same time, dietary foods. From biblical times to the most modern trends in nutrition - lentils never leave the table.

Lentils are one of the richest in vitamins from the whole B group food - especially vitamin B9, known to us as folic acid, but in plants it is called folate - as much as 120% of the daily requirement. B1 (thiamine) 58%, B6 - 27%. Lentil sprouts are rich in vitamin C. Lentils are very rich in dietary fiber - 122% of daily needs

Lentils are an environmentally friendly product because they do not accumulate toxins and nitrates, but they can be an allergen because of their purine content. Because of them, it is not a recommended food for people with gout.

The list of benefits for the human body is long and very substantial:

• Because of its proteins, lentils are a complete food for every he althy person, vegetarian, vegan

• Because of its iron and folates, lentils are an important food for pregnant women and nursing mothers. Even for small children because its shell is thin

• Because of its fiber, it improves digestion - against constipation, facilitates intestinal motility, removes toxins and slags from the body

• Reduces the risk of oncological diseases of the female reproductive system and of the breast;

• Due to magnesium and vitamins from the B group - lentils have natural antidepressant properties and favor the function of the nervous system - improves tone, lifts the mood;

• Dietary food that can be consumed with absolutely all dietary regimes, as long as there is an explicit reason for the opposite - allergy or gout

• Slow carbohydrates saturate, give the body energy, time to process, therefore they are absorbed as a complete fuel for the cells, instead of being accumulated and stored in the most inappropriate places

• This type of carbohydrate normalizes the blood sugar level
