Fresh ginger root is covered with a thin skin, which should not be cut, but should be scraped very lightly. If the root is old, however, cut out the sheath. The ginger is then cut into thin circles. You can cook it in several ways. One – by pouring the slices with boiling water, in which they should stay for about 20 minutes. You can also put them to cook in a pot of boiling water for about 10 minutes. The ginger should not remain in the water for more than this time because otherwise it becomes too bitter.

Ginger tea can also be made with ginger powder if you don't have fresh ginger. To do this, mix 1 teaspoon of honey with half a teaspoon of ground ginger and pour 200 milliliters of boiling water. Cover with a saucer and let it steep for 15 minutes.
