At the same time he is a poet, with four published books of poetry.
Creator of the program for a he althy and intelligent life Smart Diet.
Since overweight and obesity are already an epidemic not only in our country, but also in the world, there is hardly a person who is not excited about the topic of how to permanently and pleasantly deal with this problem. For this reason, we constantly publish texts and interviews with specialists who give valuable advice on how to get rid of excess weight.
Here is Dr. Gospodinova's opinion on the subject:
Dr. Gospodinova, why did you decide to do your diet - what prompted you?
- The Smart Diet was born out of my personal and glaring need for change. For many years I suffered from the fact that I was overweight. I didn't like myself. I tried every new diet that came out, followed it for a short time, and when I didn't get the results I wanted, I got even more desperate.
Gradually my he alth began to deteriorate - blood pressure and cholesterol had risen significantly. I was on the verge of insulin resistance, or the so-called "metabolic syndrome," a precursor to diabetes.
As a doctor, I well understood what this meant. Then I decided I had to do something. For several weeks I subjected my body and psyche to a deep analysis. I began to read extensively the most current scientific literature on nutrition and also the psychology of eating.
I judged, compared. I was aware that in no case would the result come "quickly", in a few weeks. And that there's no way I can keep him if I go back to my old ways. I realized that in addition to my diet, I also need to readjust my psyche.
I promised myself that under no circumstances should I subject myself to the hunger that frightens me so. Malnutrition is not an effective way to lose weight in the long term. Even on the contrary. I set two goals.

The first was to create a menu with an optimal balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, important nutrients and water, while maintaining a low-calorie diet. Along with tracking my hormones and blood work and how food affects them.
The second goal was to reprogram my psyche and thinking so that they turned from an enemy into my trusted friend and helper. I will admit that this was the hardest step of the change.
After 6 months, I was already 29 kg lighter, and my he alth problems were a memory. Not through extreme diets or heavy fitness programs, but with the help of science and willpower.
How long have you been using the diet and how many patients have already had successful results?
- I first proved the effect of the regime on myself, and all my relatives and friends started admiring the results and asking me for advice. I had to systematize everything I had learned and tested so that I could help them.
My work with them has produced extremely good results, changed lives. After a while, people from different parts of the world started looking for me. Today, two years later, there are nearly 200 participants in the regime.
What is the essence of the regime?
- It is not "just a diet", but a system of clear rules and principles that must be followed. "Iron" control is necessary. And something extremely important - the mode is unlike anything you know. In it, to lose weight, you need to eat. It is personal - one person's food is not suitable for another.
The beginning is the most difficult, because a person changes habits built up over years, which he does not even think about. Therefore, the support of a doctor who is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is key. We are in constant contact on the phone, in a video connection.

It is a completely normal reaction for people to cry, to want to give up, to look for arguments to justify themselves. Or feel confused. My job is to motivate them to stay.
We start with a review with me - live or as a video chat. I take complete anthropometric, he alth and nutritional status, order blood tests, conduct tests to determine he alth status and levels of accumulated intoxication. I'm doing a full analysis of the situation so it's clear where we're going.
We start with an initial, personal menu for 6 days. We adjust it according to how the body reacts.
Drink at least 3 liters of water per day. Meals are on time.
Every evening and every morning the participants send me a weight report. This is their control over their own body. This is how progress is most clearly seen. The report is also a guideline for how the regime should continue.
In certain conditions, at certain time intervals we follow up control blood tests.
How long does it usually take for your patients to deal with their excess weight?
- It all depends on the medical status and the goals they set for themselves, the age, the gender.
Results are individual and everyone reaches theirs at their own pace. Participants in the regime are mostly women, but there are also men. From teenagers to people of retirement age.
In all of them, the change is the result of following a personal schedule and according to the response of the body and psyche. Participation in the regime happens in a controlled manner, then one continues independently.
Why do you want to work with regular medical examinations? How does this affect diet dynamics?
- As a doctor, the medical condition of each participant in the regimen is important to me. And the results of the detailed blood tests give me much of the information I need to offer an individual menu to everyone.
During the course of the regimen, the blood tests quite naturally reflect the changes and even the indicators that were far outside the norm are optimized.
What diseases does your diet help with?
- I will use a metaphor - the regime really changes people's lives
And the first and most important thing is that everyone takes down what weighs on him. And pounds, and problems, and diseases.
After people reach their desired weight, do they still continue to eat on a special diet?
- If a person has successfully gone through the regime, he does not just part with extra pounds, but changes his entire philosophy on life. His eating habits and attitude towards his own body are so different that he no longer needs to make great efforts to maintain the result. Just follow your newly formed habits.
What are the foods that we should avoid in our daily life?
- I tell the participants that it is better to focus not on the forbidden foods, but on the beneficial products. This small change in perspective is important so they don't feel restricted. Of course, when you have a birthday, a piece of cake is part of the whole experience and you shouldn't deprive yourself of that shared emotion.
In such cases I am simply warned and we readjust the weekly menu in a way that compensates for the increased intake of compromising food.
The he althiest food is that which is simple, with minimal processing. If possible, it is good to prepare at home.
