There are many children living with a rare disease that prevents them from running. Some are short of breath, others can't control their legs well, for others running means inevitable injury. Always watching from the sidelines or locked up at home, the usual childhood games are impossible for them. All of them would like to touch the emotion of the movement, be part of a team, feel the thrill of victory.
In their honour, the National Alliance for People with Rare Diseases and 5kmrun invite you to join the Rare Disease Day group run dedicated to four children with different rare diseases. The initiative is called "I run for you", it will be held on February 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the South Park in Sofia. The marathon route is 5 km long, and the start will be given next to the bird statue in the park.
There will be four big teams running for each of the four children who inspired the initiative. Thus, the participants in the marathon will indirectly allow the little ones to touch the thrill of the competition, and perhaps even the victory. The motto of this year's Rare Disease Day is "Day after day, hand in hand" and seeks to direct the public's attention to the daily lives of people affected by rare diseases and to their need for support and inclusion in group activities.
