Indiana doctors have called the fact that a 42-year-old woman gave birth to 11 perfectly he althy boys a real miracle, as well as a world record, reported
Maria Hernandez, of Indianapolis, gave birth at 38 weeks gestation, which is unheard of when it comes to multiple pregnancies.
Hernandez and her husband say they had trouble conceiving, so they decided to have the woman undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF). The spouses desperately wanted to become parents. Here comes the big surprise!
Six of the 11 boys are identical twins. They are currently in stable condition in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Another interesting fact is that the birth took place without a caesarean section.
“We couldn't stop the babies from coming out,” says Dr. William Roberts. They literally came out one after the other. From the birth of the first baby to the last, only 17 minutes passed. “
Hospital staff say they have contacted the Guinness Book of World Records to list Maria Hernandez as the record holder.
Really, the surprise is big, we're just wondering why, since they're boys, they're all wearing pink?!
