Why do women "fall in love" and men just "have fun"? You can read the answers to these questions in this article.

During sex, the body of men and women produces the hormone oxytocin, which is also called the hug hormone. During intercourse, this hormone helps the person to relax and lower their mental defenses, which helps partners to trust each other. However, the insidiousness of this hormone is that it works differently in men and women.

Women produce significantly more oxytocin during sex than men. Psychologists believe that precisely because of the release of large amounts of hormone, women often fall in love with their partner even during a casual sexual relationship.

In men, the hormone oxytocin only enhances the feeling of satisfaction. In addition, the hormone dopamine is also produced, which is why men want more sex, while at this time a woman is almost in love.

Shortly before orgasm and during ejaculation in men, the composition of the blood changes. For example, the level of endorphins (hormones of happiness) increases, oxytocin, prolactin, norepinephrine and vasopressin continue to be produced. Along with this, it significantly reduces the level of glycogen - a form of glucose storage, which is responsible for muscle strength. That is why after ejaculation, the man feels the lack of energy, and the brain prepares for sleep. Since men's muscles are larger than women's, a lack of glycogen causes muscle wasting. This is also the reason why men fall asleep faster after sex. Many women accuse men of selfishness and lack of attention to them after sex. It's not worth doing because all the blame here is on the glycogen.

After the short nap, the men's strength is restored and they are ready to have sex again. The more muscle a man has, the longer it will take him to recover.

Besides oxytocin during sex, happiness hormones are also produced in women, which bring the woman pleasure. It should be borne in mind that there are many more nerve endings on the lips of women than on the ends of the fingers. Passionate kissing during sex helps her produce more happiness hormones.

Unlike men, women can have sex longer and more often. Therefore, they too can have sex again soon after having an orgasm, which cannot be said for men.

What are the benefits?

No one disputes the fact that sex is very useful for the body. The benefits of sex for the body are as follows:

- During orgasm, the pain signals that go to the brain are blocked. This means that sex has a mild pain-relieving effect

- Regular sex improves memory and learning as it triggers brain cell growth

- Sex can be wonderfully soothing, especially for men

- Since sex leads to the production of a large amount of the hormones of happiness, then it can also be considered an excellent "antidepressant". Sex helps to cope with stress and to relieve tension

The other side of the coin - sexomania

Schizophrenia, manic-depressive psychosis, paranoia… Not so long ago, another one entered the register of mental disorders. Canadian scientists have conducted research that has led to the conclusion: there is another mental illness that can be treated, and its name is sexomania.

Prominent sexologists sound the alarm: the number of patients with this type of mental disorder is increasing rapidly. Approximately one in twenty people aged 18-60 suffer from such a disease.

Psychologists equate sex addiction with drugs and alcohol. For sexaholics, it is much more important to get their "dose" of sex than, for example, to eat. Even the risks to their he alth and life cannot stop their thirst for carnal pleasures. And one more thing: they need a constant increase in this "dose". The result is: promiscuous sexual relations, violent daytime and nighttime sexual fantasies, depression and a complete loss of control over behavior.

In Bulgaria, unlike many civilized countries, sex mania as a disease is not officially recognized, although there are many people with such problems in our country. The behavior of such a patient is driven by an obsessive desire to perform a sexual act that does not lend itself to control. No other behavioral abnormalities noted.

Victims of sexual obsession are very resourceful. To satisfy their needs, they use baseballs, flashlights, screwdrivers, bathroom drains. They are also content with using the gear lever in cars. The most inventive of them infiltrate the gynecological departments of hospitals, pretending to be doctors and "examine" female patients. Others roam the hotels and, stripping naked, pretend to be asleep in the morning waiting for the maids.

Doctors say that this disease affects about 3-5 percent of the adult population of the planet. And people with a traditional orientation, as well as gays and lesbians with heavy, repetitive sexual fantasies, can suffer from sexomania.

According to medical statistics, most of these patients are heterosexual men. As for the "always ready" for sex ladies, their number is constantly growing. According to psychologists, women suffering from sex mania are no less than 40%.

The Reasons

Before, painful sex addiction was explained by an unhappy childhood. As a rule, in the families of such people, the very word "sex" was completely removed from the vocabulary, and the display of emotions and tenderness towards each other was not encouraged. As a result, "dried up", unhappy children from decent families, breaking away from the strong parental embrace, "go off the rails". And a fixed idea appears in their lives: sex, sex and only sex!

Modern scientific techniques have identified other causes as well. The nuclear magnetic resonance of the central nervous system, conducted by Western scientists, shows that there are differences in the structure of the brain in sex addicts and he althy people.

In addition, sex addicts often become victims of discrimination and emotional abuse, which subsequently leads to an even greater change in brain function.

Sometimes sexomania develops from intimophobia - fear of excessive attachment to a partner, fear of "addiction" to him. All this happens because of the lack of faith in the permanence of relationships caused by sexual complexes. Self-doubt reaches such catastrophic proportions that sex becomes an obsession.

The Internet is also cited as a reason for the development of a painful passion for sex. Going down the path leading to erotic and pornographic sites, some cannot stop. Aggressive "adult" marketing sites also add fuel to the fire, when not-so-simple information is hidden under a completely harmless name or spam with pornographic content is actively distributed. In this way, the obsessive desire to have sex becomes even stronger in the psyche, which already needs help and support.

From fantasy to depression

The first concept of sexual obsession was introduced to the academic community in the 1980s by the American Patrick Carnes. He had in mind then the socially and culturally disapproved sex, the so-called paraphilia.

According to Carnes' schemes, the sex addict goes through four stages of the disease:

- trance-like, delirious thoughts about sex, requiring constant, appropriate stimulation;

- the invention of erotic rituals that precede sexual acts and enhance sexual arousal;

- formation of a stable psychological dependence on these rituals, loss of self-control;

- subsequent despair and depression.

The biology of sexoholism is such that during acute sexual attraction, the brain produces a protein substance, and this is accompanied by a feeling of pleasure. After some time of communicating with only one partner, the protein is no longer produced, and the psyche, accustomed to doping, requires the emergence of a strong feeling for a new object.

The essence of the disease is the constant desire to have sex: always, everywhere and with whomever happens. Satisfying their needs, the sick immediately switch to the search for a new object of their passion, throw themselves here and there, frantically changing their partners. And if they do not find them quickly, they fall into a state of apathy and depression. And only the next "victim" can bring them out of this state in a short time.

Celebrity Confessions:

Sharon Stone, actress: "Women can fake an orgasm, but men can even fake an entire relationship".

Steve Jobs, founder of the company "Apple": "My girlfriend always laughs during sex, no matter what she's reading at the time".

Camille Palia, feminist writer: "Sex in the 90s - it's like playing billiards with a piece of rope".

Robin Williams, comedian: "You see, the problem is that God gave man a brain and a penis, but there's only enough blood for one of them at a given time."

Robert De Niro, actor: “Women say it's easier for them to undress in front of a man than in front of another woman. This is because women are very critical and men, of course, are just grateful”.

Good medicine is love

At its core, sex addiction is like alcoholism and drug addiction. This is one of the variants of the so-called addiction. Therefore, the main step in recovery from addiction is the recognition of the problem by the patient - more precisely, that he suffers from sex mania. After all, to deal with this problem, a person needs expert help. Drugs such as anti-depressants are sometimes used to treat sex mania, but their effect is very limited, especially in cases of "internet sex mania". In this case, filters that do not allow access to "dangerous" sites will be more effective.

But if you suddenly have feelings for the opposite sex, don't rush to see a doctor right away - first try to satisfy your passion (within reasonable limits, of course). If you fail to suppress her and she continues to draw you irresistibly to bed, the only choice is to meet with a specialist-sexologist who has a psychological practice.

Even if the patient takes medication, psychotherapy is also necessary. A sex addict must talk to a specialist, share his fantasies, in order to realize how his behavior affects others. To restore the psyche in such cases, the psychologist must conduct about 10 sessions with the patient.

As practice shows, the best medicine for a sex addict is a worthy partner who is able to realize all his fantasies and give him pleasure. Love heals even the most advanced stages of the disease.

By the way, some psychologists claim that the problem is too exaggerated, and the cause of sexual worries is nothing more than elementary laxity in sexual relations.
