My surgeon recommended bloodless surgery as a better option. Is this type of surgical treatment of the gallbladder fully covered by the He alth Insurance Fund?

In gallbladder surgery, there are clinical pathways that include laparoscopic methods. The laparoscopic method of gallbladder surgery is included, for example, in clinical pathway (CP) No. 170 "Laparoscopic cholecystectomy". In the algorithm for the implementation of the clinical path, it is written that the NHIF pays for one main operative procedure performed on this clinical path and at least one diagnostic procedure from three different groups at the discretion of the attending physician.

The following expensive consumables for conducting the treatment are not paid for: laparoscopic consumables and sterile polyethylene sleeves for the camera head. You must also pay a user fee for hospital stays, which is 2% of the national minimum wage. If you have already been treated for 10 consecutive days in 2016, you are exempt from paying the user fee for your next hospitalization during the year. If you are exempt from user fee (according to Appendix No. 14 "List of diseases exempting he alth insured persons from user fee under Art. 37, para. 2 of the Law on He alth Insurance"), you also do not pay for the hospital stay
