Scientists have discovered the "roots of evil" in the human brain.

Researchers have discovered that a certain part of a person's brain reacts when he commits malicious actions, writes The Telegraph, quoted by "Focus". The researchers wanted to find out whether the formation of bad intentions could be observed in the brain before the actual act of aggression. They found that the hypothalamus, the brain region that controls body temperature, appetite and sleep, is activated immediately before an attack.

The part of the brain that is activated before aggressive behavior is called the ventrolateral part of the ventromedial hypothalamus. The authors of the study from New York University in the US say that early warning signals of premeditated violence, harassment and even sexual aggression could probably be detected and prevented.

"Our study identifies the brain circuits responsible for the motivation of aggression, which is formed when animals prepare to attack," says one of the scientists, Dr. Dayu Lin.

Scientists believe their discovery could lead to the creation of drugs to help people control aggressive behavior. However, this is controversial, as monitoring the brain and administering drugs that prevent aggression can be seen as a violation of free will.
